In the history of Chinese literature in America, Chen Qian is a female writer withunique style, who comes out at the turn of the century and gradually grows up in the newcentury. She participates in the American new immigrant literature as a senior chipdesigner of silicon valley, migrating between the culture of China and the United Stateswith a mentality of " American duplicity ". Her early writing focused on the spiritualpredicament of white-collar women in middle class, recently her writing on the "CulturalRevolution" has been noticed, which has multi-dimensionally presented another possibilityin the narrative dimension of new immigrant women. This paper takes Chen Qian’s novelsas the research object, which based on the text, combining the methods of cross-culturalstudies and feminism, analyzes and studies Chen Qian’s creation psychology, artisticcharacteristics and literary achievements comprehensively. Chapter One, based on StuartHall’s theory of "cultural identity and ethnic diaspora", tries to explore Chen’s thoughtsabout ethnicity, class and cultural identity. In the process of narrating the "diaspora", thepaper indicates that "American duplicity" is not only the unique style of Chen Qian, butalso symbolizes a new cultural identity. It also discusses Chen’s cultural and psychologicaldemands behind the construction of "American duplicity " mentality.Chapter Two, takingfeminism theory for reference, surveys Chen Qian’s thinking about the gender identity,then studies how she constructs the gender subject consciousness of immigrant women andexplores the way to happiness for immigrant women, furthermore thinks about thesubjectivity of overseas Chinese female writers.Chapter Three, based on the text of ChenQian’s novels, explores the new features in her female narrative, and points out that herimmigration novels not only offer us another possibility of imaging Chinese femaleimmigrants, but also bring a new kind creative direction of "inward looking, inside going"to the literature. Her "Cultural Revolution" writing which reveals people’s "hiddenpsychological or emotional trauma" create another aesthetic way for North AmericanChinese literary writing on "Cultural Revolution". It has not only become a new focus ofher own future works, but also may become a new aesthetic style of the "Cultural Revolution" narrative for North American Chinese female literature, even the Chineseliterature in the future.
