Autonomic learning has always been a hotspot in education research and an important topic in the field of education.People research the autonomic learning in different perspectives.From the perspective of curriculum,autonomic learning is an important goal.From the perspective of teaching methods,autonomic learning is an important teaching method.From the perspective of learners,autonomic learning is an effective way of learning.Autonomic learning could promote the initiative of learning,but also could benefit learners’ life-long learning and development.English as a worldwide using language,it is a major international communication and cooperation tool,also is the foundation of thinking and culture.Learning an using English has significant meaning in learning foreign technology,spread Chinese culture,enhance international understanding.Reading as the main ways of knowledge acquirement,English reading is the main part of high school English course,it is also a skill that students should acquire.Under the background of the new curriculum reform,classroom instruction has transform ways of students learning.Students’ autonomic learning ability has always been advocated by the educators.To research the current situation of autonomic learning in S high school,Xi’an,then propose certain strategies of improvement,it could help to promote the comprehensive quality.From the basis of autonomic learning theories,researcher use classroom observation,questionnaire survey,interview and combined other ways for almost a year.Research the situation of teaching methods and teaching models,enhance the instruction of learning strategies using and group-discussion to accomplish certain teaching task.After the research,I discovered there are huge differences of autonomic learning in different levels,English reading materials is not broad,most students have not form the habits of introspect after reading.Some teachers have not practice the autonomic learning theories,reading teaching material is partial from reality.
