New English Curriculum Standard of Senior High School(here refers to New Standards)which was issued in 2017 and adapted in 2020 by Ministry of Education points out that building a community with a shared future for mankind is one of the themes today.English subject acts as a global language,whose importance is obvious to all of us.The reform of the English Curriculum is helpful for the establishment of it.Our students are the constructors and the beneficiaries,which has more requirements on students’ English learning.This kind of higher requirements promotes the teachers to transform their traditional styles of teaching.Attempting and exploring new,efficient and practical methods of teaching can arise the students’ interest and apply them to the English classes.The study of “Guided Learning Plan Module” is a new type of attempt which is based on the Learning Guide,directed by the teachers and mainly conducted by students themselves.The study is based on the education theories and directed by the New Standards,combined with the practical English teaching and reflection after classes.The experiments were carried out in the two classes of Grade 3,one of the key middle schools in Harbin.Class 7,which is 52 students,acts as the experimental class and the Class 9 which is 50 students,acts as the controlled class.Because both of the two classes belong to the graduation grade,which mainly focus on training more on the reading skills and less listening and speaking skills.And therefore the classes and the Guide Learning Plans are mostly about reading.The experiment began from September,2020,when the students’ first monthly examination and ended on the December,when the students had their fourth monthly examination.The scores of their first monthly examination were used as the pre-test scores and the fourth monthly examination scores acted as the post-test ones.The test experiment lasted for about 3 month.The questionnaire was conducted online in January 2021.After the analysis of the data,we came to the conclusion that the scores of the experimental class improved greatly in solving both reading and cloze problems compared with those of the controlled class.In terms of developing the students’ study habits and the awareness of self-exploring and training the self-study ability,the experimental class’ s performance is relatively better as well.The study shows that compared with the traditional teaching methods,the Guided learning Plan of teaching is more beneficial to the improvement of students’ study efficiency,self-study ability and therefore has improved their paper scores.At last,through self-reflection,the author came to some inspiration and gave some practical advice and principles on the application of teaching.
