Self-evaluation refers to the individual's evaluation of his own factors like thoughts, desires, behaviors, characteristics and so on.It's an important part of self-awareness,and plays an important role in the development of the individual.Previous studies have pointed out that the information obtained through comparison is considered to be an effective resource for self-evaluation,while the common comparison types have social comparison and dimensional comparison. These two comparisons are the basic determinants of individual self-evaluation.Personality trait refers to the individual's relatively stable and unique mode of psychological behavior.Theoretical research indicates that it will influence people's choice to make different comparisons and have different influences on individuals.Even these traits may play a moderating role in the effect that social or dimensional comparison can impact individual self-evaluation.However,there is no empirical study considers both the impact of social comparison and dimensional comparison on individual self-evaluation at the same time. And the effect's internal mechanism is undefined. The purpose of this paper is to explore the impact of social comparison and dimensional comparison on self-evaluation of individuals and the moderating role of personality traits in the effect by using the combination of experimental way and questionnaires through two studies. The experimental materials of this paper are the relevant topics of the adaptation. We explore the moderating role of personality traits on the basis of examining the impact of social comparison and dimensional comparison on individual self-evaluation.The purpose of study 1 is to explore the influence of social comparison and dimensional comparison on individual self-evaluation.The results showed that social comparison and dimensional comparison had significant influence on individual self-evaluation,and the effect of social comparison was significantly greater than that of dimensional. The order of social comparison and dimension comparison also affects the individual's self-evaluation.In the case where the two comparative messages appear in different order, there were significant differences between the subjects' capable self-evaluation of Quantitative test, the overall self-evaluation of Quantitative test and the emotional self-evaluation of the Verbal test. The results are as follows:when the social comparison occurs prior, the scores of the above three kinds of self-evaluations are significantly lower than those of the other situation. The purpose of study 2 is to investigate the moderating effect of personality traits in the influence of social comparison and dimensional comparison on individual self-evaluation.Theresults showed that preciseness in comparative types and individual ability self-evaluation of Quantitative test relationship plays a significantly negative moderating role.Specific expression is: in the transition from social comparison to the dimension, preciseness enhances the influence of comparison types on ability self-evaluation of individual Quantitative test;preciseness in comparative types and individual overall self-evaluation of Quantitative test relationship plays a significantly negative moderating role.Specific expression is: in the transition from social comparison to the dimension, preciseness enhances the influence of comparison types on overall self-evaluation of individual Quantitative test;extraversion in comparative types and individual emotional self-evaluation of Verbal test relationship plays a significantly positive moderating role.Specific expression is: in the transition from social comparison to the dimension, extraversion enhances the influence of comparison types on emotional self-evaluation of individual Verbal test.According to the above analysis, the study concluded as follows:(1)In the presence of social comparison and dimension comparison at the same time, both of them have significant influence on individual self-evaluation,but the influence of social comparison effects significantly outweigh the effect of dimension comparison.(2)The order of social comparison and dimension comparison can have a significant impact on individual self-evaluation.When the social comparison occurs prior, the scores of the ability self-evaluation of the Quantitative test, the overall self-evaluation of the Quantitative test and the emotional self-evaluation of the Verbal test are significantly lower than those of the other situation.(3)The preciseness and extraversion of the personality traits of the big five play a moderating role in social comparison and dimension comparison.
