As a psychological resource,career adaptability plays a crucial role at different stages of career development and helps individual cope with change in the external environment.From the perspective of core self-evaluation and achievement motivation,this study explores their impact on career adaptability of college students.This study is divided into two parts.In the first part,this paper investigates 498 college students by questionnaire in order to revise Core Self-Assessment Scale.Research shows:the core self-evaluations scale includes 10 items.It contains two dimensions,which are positive factor and negative factor.The internal consistency reliability of each scale and the total scale was between 0.72?0.76.Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis results show that the scale has good validity.In the second part,this paper conducts a questionnaire survey on 1008 college students and explores the specific situation of college students.At the same time,this paper explores the linear relationship between core self-evaluation,achievement motivation and career adaptability as well as the intermediary role of achievement motivation.Research shows:(1)The scores of career adaptability and career adaptability in four dimensions are above 3(moderate intensity),and career adaptability of college students can be divided into 5 types according to the development status.The score of self-evaluation of college students is above 3(medium intensity),and college students' motivation of pursuing success is higher than their motivation of avoiding failure.(2)The grades and major differences in career adaptability of college students are significant.The career adaptability of senior students is significantly higher than that of the freshman students.The career adaptability of liberal arts is significantly higher than that of science and engineering;the core self-evaluations of college students with different genders is significantly different,the core self-evaluation and achievement motivation of male college students were significantly higher than female college students,and achievement motivation of liberal arts students was significantly lower than that of science and engineering.(3)Core self-evaluation can positively predict the level of motivation of pursuing success and negatively predict the level of motivation of avoiding failure.Motivation of pursuing success can positively predict the level of career adaptability,motivation of avoiding failure can negatively predict the level of career adaptability.Core self-evaluation can positively predict the level of career adaptability.(4)Achievement motivation plays a partial intermediary role in core self-evaluation and career adaptability.The mediating effect of achievement motivation accounts for 21.20%of the total effect.This study reaches the following conclusions:(1)The core self-evaluations scale has good reliability and validity and can be tested in Chinese college students.(2)The overall level of career adaptability of college students is above-average,according to the situation of development,it can be divided into 5 types,the development of most college students' career adaptability is not balanced.Grade and major affect college students' career adaptability.Senior students have higher career adaptability than freshman students.Liberal arts college students have higher career resilience than science and engineering majors;Gender influences college students,core self-evaluation,and male college students' core self-evaluation is higher than female college students.Gender and major affect college students' achievement motivation,male college students have higher achievement motivation than female college students,and liberal arts college students have lower achievement motivation than science and engineering.(3)Achievement motivation plays a partial intermediary role in core self-evaluation and career adaptability.The core self-evaluation can either directly predict career adaptability or affect their career adaptability through achievement motivation.
