Masters’career motivations run through the entire progress, and affect job seekers’selecting the job and deciding the job. However, according to the relative pre-studies, we found there were few studies on the career motivation. Thus, this research analyzes the structure and the influences of the maters’career motivation through the method of The Interview and The Questionnaire.Firstly, this research collects items by open questionnaire, then writes down the interview outline, investigates eight master graduates and analyzes the factor structure in career motivation.Secondly, this research revises the questionnaire of career motivation through exploratory factor analysis, the reliability and the validity test. It is a suitable tool to measure masters’career motivation.Thirdly, this research chooses804maters to do the questionnaire. This research analyses the differences on masters’career motivation.Fourthly, this research not only analyzes the formation and characteristic of career motivation, but also analyzes the effects of occupational characteristics and social practice on career motivation, explores the factors’framework that influences the career motivation.The thesis draws following conclusions:(1) Masters’career motivation is a comprehensive part that contains multi dimensions. Career motivation contains intrinsic and extrinsic motivations. The career intrinsic motivation contains five factors which are security and stability, emotional need, expertise match, autonomy, achievement and progress. The career extrinsic motivation contains five factors which are salary and benefit, the environment in work, city factors, career development and occupational prestige.(2) Masters’ideal careers are university teachers, civil servants, the state-owned enterprises’staff, primary and secondary school teachers.(3) Within all factors, the first three factors are autonomy, emotional need, achievement and progress.(4) There are significant differences on postgraduates’career motivation within the factors of grade, professional social practice.(5)There are significant differences on postgraduates’career intrinsic motivation within the factors of grade, family income and professional social practice. (6) There are significant differences on postgraduates’career extrinsic motivation within the factors of grade, family income and professional social practice.On the basis of the results, this research further makes recommendations from the perspective of school and social education environment.
