Research On The Poet Shao Hengzhen In The End Of Yuan Dynasty And The Beginning Of Ming Dynasty

Shao Hengzhen is one of the best writers of Ci-poem at the turn of the Yuan and Ming dynasties.His ideological trends and artistic achievements are interesting.This paper focusses on these topics.The first chapter introduces Shao's family,life and intercourse.His paternal family were powerful in the Tang dynasty because of one ancestor's being appointed as a celestial and had been declined in the Song dynasty.His grandfather who named Shao Guizi was a Jinshi,who was a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations,in the Song dynasty.After moving to Huating,Songjiang(now Shanghai),he used the advantages of culture and politics to unite the local powerful family with marriage and seek for the continuation and improvement of the economic status.Shao Hengzhen's early life was comfortable.After suffering disasters,He went into the society.He served as a Xundao,a national teacher in low grade,in Songjiang and joined the army twice.His friends were in-laws or neighbor mainly,also included Tao Zongyi,Huang Gongwang and so on.The second chapter analyzes Shao Hengzhen's ideological situation.He claimed to a Confucian literatus,so that he learned widely under the guidance of the Neo-Confucianism and seek for his political success and family's rejuvenation.Dominated by the style in medium-term of the Yuan dynasty,his literature and calligraphy respected and aspire elegant and ancient ways.He recognized the legitimacy of the Yuan's rule and worked for it.Getting in the Ming dynasty,he lived in seclusion because of the literati's moral standards.The third chapter discusses the style of Shao Hengzhen's Ci-poems.He studied widely.Most of his Ci-poems were elegant with fresh air close to Jiang Kui.But his best writing were exquisite and sincere influenced by Zhou Bangyan or were free and forceful influence by Xin Qiji.He paid more attention to the rhythms than the rest writer in the same times.The fourth chapter explores Shao Hengzhen's method of specific subject.His archaistic Ci-poems written with proper attitude and careful skill were similar to ancient Ci-poems in both appearance and spirit.His Ci-poems written for festival,one kind of objects or a painting inherited the techniques of senior writers,developed them and got something new.
