In the process of interpersonal communication,verbal communication and non-verbal communication are important means of information transmission.They complement each other and convey emotion and information together.Body language,as an auxiliary communication method of vocal language,plays an indispensable role in cross-cultural communication and is the core part and the most important form of expression of non-verbal communication.Body language has its own characteristics and functions.Like verbal communication,it must abide by the "cooperative principle" and is closely related to cultural factors.It reflects the language meaning,cognitive style and psychological pattern in different ethnic cultures.The study of body language is not only closely related to the study of language use,but also has a close relationship with many disciplines such as philosophy,culture,pedagogy,psychology and communication.Therefore,it is of great significance to study body language.In practical applications,people often pay attention to the correctness of the sound language and easily overlook the body language.However,the body language plays a non-negligible role in supplementing,substituting,and emphasizing language communication behavior.The correct use of body language can guarantee the smooth progress of our information exchange and obtain accurate feedback information in the process of communication.This article elaborates on the concept,characteristics,classification of body language,and its role in cross-cultural communication.It focuses on the analysis of the similarities and differences between Chinese and German body language from the perspective of cultural differences.Contacting the use of body language in the German-Chinese class helps people to understand the differences of the body language in different cultural backgrounds between China and Germany and avoid misunderstandings and obstacles caused by cultural differences in the process of communication,thereby effectively improving the effectiveness of communication.The full text is divided into five parts:Part One:Introduction.Explain the purpose and significance of the research,the status of research at home and abroad.And point out the problems faced by body language and the prospects for development.Part two:An overview of body language.This part is divided into four parts,which mainly introduce the theoretical content of body language.The first part introduces the meaning of body language.The second part discusses the classification of body language.The third part describes the characteristics of body language.The fourth part explains the function of body language in cross-cultural communication.Part three:Discuss the differences and causes of body language in China and Germany.This part is the research focus of this article.It compares the personality and commonness of the body language between China and Germany from the five aspects of the eyes,face,posture,gestures and body distance.And analyze the cultural factors that cause these similarities and differences.Discuss the cultural aspects of China and Germany.Part four:About the application of body language in the German-Chinese Class.Firstly,it discusses the application and function of body language in German-Chinese Class.Secondly,it explains the teaching principles of body language and points out the teachers'attention to the use of body language in German-Chinese Class teaching.In the final analysis,the body language was applied specifically to the German-Chinese Class and the teaching cases were designed.Part five:Conclusion.The basic situation of the study in this paper is briefly summarized.
