A Critical Theory Study Of Popular Culture In "One-dimensional Man"

As a representative of the Frankfurt School,Marcuse inherited the critical spirit of the Frankfurt School,profoundly criticized many contradictions and problems in the capitalist developed industrial society,and formed a unique critical theory,in which his popular culture critical theory is distinct and unique.Based on the book "One Dimensional Man",this paper deeply analyzes the background and theoretical sources of Marcuse's critical theory of mass culture,interprets the concept of "popular culture",and focuses on the content of Marcuse's critical theory of popular culture.That is,the critique of affirmation,unity,and repressive culture,comprehensively interpret the connotation of one dimensional theory,and make an objective evaluation from two aspects of rationality and limitation.At the same time,the Marcuse's critical theory of popular culture is projected into the socialist culture with Chinese characteristics.It analyzes the similarities and differences between Marcuse's popular culture and Chinese popular culture,and seeks the Marcuse's critical theory of popular culture for the construction of Chinese popular culture.
