This thesis mainly studies the Zen style of Dong Qichang’s landscape painting in the late Ming Dynasty.It begins with the social and cultural background of the late Ming Dynasty,expounds the relationship between Dong Qichang and Zen and the reasons for his painting.Buddhism was introduced into China from the Han Dynasty,and the Zen ideology with Chineseization was formed during the Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern Dynasties,which has always influenced the development of painting art.Zen and painting are originally two different kinds of things.Because of their common ways of thinking and aesthetic taste,painting and Zen are inextricably linked.The social environment at the end of the Ming Dynasty could not allow some aspiring people to realize their ambitions.They chose the path of the game to retreat and express their inner feelings through Zen Yue.As the most influential person in the late Ming Dynasty,Dong Qichang was the highest pursuit of the clear and empty world of Zen.This article uses the viewpoint of Zen thought to briefly describe the Zen style in Dong Qichang’s landscape painting.The article is based on the savvy way of thinking,the ethereal and elegant Zen style,and the paintings of Dong Qichang introduced by the creative concept of dissociating,in order to decipher the soul of Dong Qichang’s Zen painting art.Comparing Dong Qichang with the Zen paintings of other Zen painters,it is easier to see that Zen thoughts influence the entire painting process in an indirect and invisible way.Analyze and study Dong Qichang’s Zen landscape painting style,you can see his own painting creation,apply his Zen style to his own creation,and look forward to the future art of painting.The main body of this thesis is divided into five chapters to expound the Zen style in Dong Qichang’s landscape painting.The first chapter begins with an overview of Dong Qichang’s life,an overview of the social situation and artistic experience in the late Ming Dynasty.The second chapter briefly describes the rise of Buddhist Zen in the late Ming Dynasty,the relationship between Dong Qichang and the Buddhist studies in the late Ming Dynasty,and the reasons for drawing Zen into painting.The third chapter is the important chapter of this thesis.It mainly analyzes Dong Qichang’s Zen style from the aspects of the brush and ink method,the layout of the chapter and the pursuit of ethereal and elegant artistic conception.The fourth chapter mainly analyzes the similarities and differences between Dong Qichang and other Zen painters from the concrete manifestations in the picture.It is understood that Dong Qichang’s Zen style is mostly conveyed in an indirect way.The fifth chapter expounds the influence of the famous painting master Dong Qichang’s Zen landscape painting on the later generations in the late Ming Dynasty.
