With the deepening of education and teaching reform,the traditional concept of reading ability is gradually being replaced by the new concept of reading literacy.With the development of social economy and political culture,especially the concept of lifelong learning,the meaning of reading literacy has also changed.It is no longer just referring to the reading of students at school.Competence is the ability of a person to combine a variety of reading materials and growing knowledge,skills and strategies built in interaction with peers throughout their life.Reading literacy is the development of reading ability.It contains richer connotations,including not only the learners' reading ability,but also their beliefs,attitudes and habits that individuals and social groups need in different scenarios and situations.The author's school has accumulated certain teaching practice experience and theoretical basis,and also generated some problems in the process of research.The topic is based on such a practical background.The author hopes to combine the theory and practice through the research of the thesis,improve the author's English reading teaching ability,and deepen the research of the English reading teaching research in the author's school.The study is divided into six chapters:The First Chapter is the introduction of research background,research purposes,research significance and the framework of the paper.The Second Chapter is the literature review which includes the definition of the relevant concepts of this research,the status of reading teaching at home and abroad and the main theoretical basis of this research.The Third Chapter states the determination of the goal of English reading comprehension in the lower grades of primary school,expounds the cause and effect of the goal of determining English reading comprehension ability in the lower grades,and the target system of specific reading comprehension ability.The Fourth Chapter discusses the practical methods to achieve the goal of reading and understanding ability of primary school students.This part includes how the reading comprehension ability system is implemented in daily teaching.The Fifth Chapter is the practical research on the improvement of primary school students' reading comprehension ability,including the experimental research,the effectiveness analysis and summary of the reading teaching of the author's school by the internationally certified Lexile evaluation system.The Sixth Chapter draws the conclusion of the research as well as the limitations and reflections of this study.Through practical research and data analysis,the author proves that under the framework of reading target system and reasonable curriculum design,it can effectively stimulate the reading interest of students in the lower primary school,cultivate English reading comprehension ability,and promote the formation of reading literacy.
