China and North Korea(South Korea)are closely linked in geography and history.Especially in modern times, the fate of China and the Korean Peninsula is intertwined. In 1910,the Korean Peninsula and Northeast China became colonies of Japan in 1931,and Japanese imperialism began to implement colonial policies. After the merger of Korea and Japan,Japan implemented the policy of"Integration of Mainland and Korea"to Korea(South Korea),and after occupying Northeast China,it implemented the policy of"Manchu and Korean Integration"in an attempt to establish the"Greater East Asia Common Circle".China and Korea(South Korea)have similar cultural backgrounds, the same fate and common enemies of aggression,so Korean people often appear in modern Chinese literature.A thorough study of the Korean image in Chinese modern fiction will help to understand the Chinese people’s views on the DPRK and the DPRK at that time,as well as the comparative study of the diversity of modern literature between China and DPRK,and the study of the relationship between modern China and Korean culture and literature. This paper takes China,Korea and the third country as narrative space, chooses two modern Chinese novels with Korean as theme, and uses social and historical criticism method to analyze the Korean image characteristics in modern Chinese novels and the writer’s creative intention and literary significance. This paper is divided into six chapters to discuss. The first chapter is the introduction, which summarizes the purpose and significance of the study, the current research situation, the scope and methods of the study and the composition of the paper. The second chapter is divided into two parts to study the background of Korean image in Chinese modern fiction. The first section mainly discusses the historical background of the two countries. The second section mainly discusses the contacts between Chinese writers and the DPRK and the DPRK.The main research writers are Guo Moruo,Wu Mingshi,Shu Qun,Jiang Guangci,Fei An and so on.The third chapter mainly discusses the Korean image in the works"Children Without Motherland"and"Kaya"which take China as narrative space.Shu Qun’s"Children Without Motherland"takes Harbin as the narrative space and 9.18 Incident as the background. It depicts the friendship among three teenagers from different countries. It tells readers that only through the tragic fate of Korean teenagers who have lost their motherland, can they get rid of the environment of life and death.Wu Mingshi’s"Kaya"takes Heilongjiang as the narrative space and Li Fan-rong as the prototype to create the protagonist Jin narrative space and Li Fan-rong as the prototype to create the protagonist Jin Yaodong. The novel describes Jin Yaodong’s journey from despair to awakening in the harsh natural environment of Heilongjiang Province, and depicts his strong perseverance and patriotism. In his works,he loves his motherland and misses his hometown, which complements the description of the environment and achieves the effect of sublimation.Chapter IV mainly discusses the Korean image in the works"Shepherd’s Sad Tales"and"Red Devil"with North Korea as the narrative space.Guo Moruo’s"Shepherd’s Sad Tales"takes Korea as the narrative space, compares Min Chonghua’s and Yin Ziying’s patriotic images with Yin Shihu’s and Mrs.Lee’s traitorous images, vividly depicts the contradiction of the times in Korea which has fallen into Japanese colonies and the patriotic spirit of the Korean people, and also sounds the alarm bell to the Chinese people.Anonymous’s"Red Devil" takes Korea as the narrative space, disbands the Korean army in 1907 as the theme, and calls on the people to resist Japan together by depicting the patriotic spirit of national hero Kim Zuo-zhen who sacrifices himself for the motherland and the nation. The fifth chapter mainly discusses the Korean image in the "On the Yalu River"and"A Korean"narrative space.Jiang Guangci’s"On the Yalu River"takes the Soviet Union as the narrative space.Through the rough love stories and indomitable patriotism between the Korean man Li Menghan who fled to the Soviet Union and his lover Yungu who stayed in Korea,it shows that the Korean people are the theme of the people in the heroic war of resistance and exposes the cruel acts of Japanese imperialism.Fei An’s"A Korean"takes Japan as the narrative space, and describes the tragic image and fate of Korean students studying in a Japanese University who are despised, ridiculed and insulted by local Japanese students through the vision of other Chinese students. The sixth chapter is the conclusion part, which mainly summarizes the whole content of this article, and summarizes the reasons for the emergence of Korean-themed Chinese modern novel and its social and literary significance.
