The redundant information studied in this paper refers to the redundant information deliberately released by the information source in order to avoid various interference factors hindering information transmission to reduce the loss in the information transmission process.Based on Eugene Nida's functional equivalence theory, this paper compares the two different translations(the author's translation with Zhang Lu's translation)by using the questions and answers of journalists of the 13 th National People's Congress to find out the author's own deficiencies,to explore the reasons for the occurrence of redundant information in Chinese-English communication, and try to find a way to solve such problems. After comparing the two translations, the author summarizes the reasons for the occurrence of redundant information: pursuit of repetition and confrontation of Chinese language habits;personal habits of the speakers;due to Chinese English;specific English translation and so on.After summarizing the reasons, the author analyzes and classifies the redundant information, and divides it into three levels: vocabulary, syntax and semantics.Combining the examples in the practice of a large number of interpretations, the specific coping strategies are summarized, that is,omission, synonym and parts of speech transition for words redundance;proper segmentation sentence pattern transformation for syntax redundance;and omission, summary and retaining for semantics redundance.By summarizing the causes of redundancy and summarizing the processing strategies,it can provide reference for generating smooth, concise and authentic translations and improving the quality of interpretation.
