This paper is a translation practice report on studying of omissions in MAIB investigation report.There are many problems in the translation literature in China,such as syntactic redundancy and the rigid structure of target text.This translation practice report based on the perspective of functional equivalence theory,analyzes different types of omission translation in "Report on the investigation of the grounding and flooding of the ro-ro ferry Commodore Clipper in the approaches to St Peter Port,Guernsey on 14 July 2014",which includes structural omission and semantic omission.Through analyzing different kinds of omission examples,making conclusions of 10 methods of translation:Structural omission which includes noun,adverb and adjective,verb,pronoun,article,conjunction,prepositions and It.Semantic omission includes redundancy omission and subjective omission.Making full use of omissions can make the translation more professional and accord with language feature of maritime version.
