As international communication becomes increasingly frequent, interpretation activities play an indispensable role in cross-cultural communication. The degree of information processing is gradually becoming the criterion for judging the quality of interpretation activities. To some extent, the processing of redundant information can directly determine the result of interpretation activities. Most researchers focus on the cohesion and coherence, few scholars put emphasis on redundant information processing. This is a Chinese to English consecutive interpreting practice report.Based on the Functional Equivalence Theory, the interpreter takes the third and fourth episode of the CCTV' documentary,Helan Mountain as an example, and generalizes the problems in interpreting practice and presents them in the case analysis.According to the analysis, firstly, compressing vocabulary and transforming the part of the speech are the best methods to deal with the redundant words.Secondly, translating of implicit meaning and reorganization of the sentences can help to solve the problem of the redundant sentence structure.Thirdly, simplifying logical relations and changing word-order can be used to solve the problem of the redundant discourses.Redundant information processing can help the target language to achieve the functional equivalence. It is hoped that the this report can be helpful to consecutive interpreting in the future.
