Nowadays, artistic creation could virtually break free from the constraints of all rules and conventions, and the freedom of artistic creation has been recognized to a great extent.A variety of media or approaches can produce artistic work. All these changes are conceived in the modern art period.Although we have free and easy access to these cognitional achievements in the contemporary era,we are unnecessarily able to absorb them as our nutrients for self-growth.Instead,this sort of“achievements" could be easily taken as new dogma.Shi Tao once put it that "The beards and eyebrows of ancient people can by no means match with my modern face." Likewise, while introducing a thing which used to exist in another cultural context, its original cultural symbols will usually steal the limelight from ours.Yet,the essence of the problem is obscured or even neglected. How can the understanding of modern art facilitate individual creation rather than bring about new obstacles to it?Instead of encouraging people to focus on the core of the problem,a lot of information makes people get caught up in its nonessential trivia. And the lack of certain intermediate step is held accountable for such cognitive bias.As indicated by the saying " Practice is the sole criterion for testing truth ",artistic creation stems from realistic practice rather than abstract concepts.Starting with several artists who share something in common in artistic creation, the paper attempts to expound on and supplement this missing intermediate step by analyzing their works and find something that can be used for reference and self-reflection.
