The spread of Chinese culture has become an important part of the"Chinese Dream",and Chinese International Education is a discipline that shoulders the spread of Chinese culture.It is also linked to the construction of the national image.There are many international Chinese textbooks on the market.The New Practical Chinese Reader and Hanyu Jiaocheng are selected as the research objects,promoting the construction of Chinese textbooks with good Chinese image.The New Practical Chinese Reader and Hanyu Jiaocheng are very classic primary Chinese textbooks.The two sets of textbooks were published in similar time and are still the preferred textbooks for many schools and teachers.This paper uses the literature research method,text analysis method,interview method and case analysis method to deeply analyze the Chinese images elements.Through the quantitative analysis of the quantity,category,distribution and frequency of Chinese image elements in these two sets of textbooks,we can discover the Chinese elements and their presentation methods attached to the textbooks.Combining the analysis and interview results,this paper selects the cultural module of New Practical Chinese Reader and the idiom part of Hanyu Jiaocheng as a case study for analysis,which help to find the rationality and effectiveness of the cultural module setting and the successful arrangement of idioms.According to the research,New Practical Chinese Reader and Hanyu Jiaocheng have established a relatively positive image of China through a large number of Chinese image elements.However,the deficiencies caused by the changes of the times have also been found.The Chinese image in the textbooks is not complete enough,especially the lack of modern elements.In order to build a complete and positive image of China,I put forward opinions and suggestions for selecting Chinese image elements and editing Chinese textbooks.In the choice of Chinese image elements,we must abide by the principles of representation,richness,comprehensiveness and reality to ensure the fullness and truth of the elements.When writing the textbooks,paying attention to the purpose and role of each part and the focus of students and teachers;the practice is an important part for the learners to review and consolidate.The representative elements also expand related elements at the same time;the cultural module is a successful part of the New Practical Chinese Reader,but it should also be noted that the selection of cultural module content is best related to the content of the text to raise learners interests.The choice of Chinese image elements should pay attention to comprehensiveness and reality,involving all aspects of ancient and modern times,and display a complete image of China in order to realize the fundamental purpose of learning language--using the target language for communicative activities as the starting point,and selecting appropriate elements and rationally arranging teaching to build a good image of China.
