The Creation And Interpretation Of The Documentary "Survival"

With the development of China's market economy,the gap between the rich and the poor is expanding,and the imbalance between urban and rural development is becoming more and more serious.The uncertainty brought by the construction of market economy itself and the new changes brought in the process make the economic sources of poor peasant households face impact and fall into the survival crisis.The survival situation is worrying.Documentary is an art form that takes social life as the source of material selection,real persons and real events as its object of expression,inspires the audience to think deeply with the reality and arouse their emotional resonance through artistic means of processing and refining deeply.The documentary"To Live" uses techniques of objective and documentary expression and follows the methods of filming and interviewing to show an old man,who is over 70 years old but has to shoulder the heavy burden of hopes that the old man's indomitable will be highlighted through his work and living circumstances,the beauty of human nature will be shown,these discussions of philosophical issues about "livelihood?living?life" will be extended so as to inspire more people to survey and introspection the meaning of life.This dissertation makes a detailed description about the film process and creation method of the documentary film "To Live".The first chapter describes the process from subject selection to subject refinement.Chapters 2 and 3 apply relevant theories of film narratology to analyze its narrative features in terms of creative practice from two aspects:narrative strategy and narrative language.In terms of narrative strategy,the documentary "To Live" adopted a causal linear narrative structure and explored from the four dimensions of "bystander's narrative perspective","dramatic conflict expression and suspense setting","relaxation and moderate narrative rhythm"and "moving details".In terms of narrative language,there are three narrative languages symbols being applied to this documentary,which are the picture language?the sound languages and the written language,in which the picture language is the most important one.The author makes a deep analysis of the picture language from four perspectives:"the use of real long lens","the flexible composition form","the deep meaning of light color" and "the symbolic meaning of symbolic image".The last part of this dissertation describes his difficulty and deficiency in the process of filming and then considered and summarized the entire creative process.
