At present,with the rapid development and popularization of the multimedia information technology and the continuous improvement of school conditions,multimedia has been widely introduced into classroom teaching.The introduction of multimedia has added a lot of vitality to English teaching.It can not only activate the classroom atmosphere,but also improve the students' interest in learning English.The English Curriculum Standards for senior high school require students to use the various educational resources such as the Internet to obtain and process information under the guidance of teachers,and to sort,summarize and analyze the acquired information according to their needs.The introduction of multimedia-assisted English teaching in the stage of senior high school meets the need for education and the times.However,few studies have been done regarding the multimedia-assisted English teaching in senior high school.In terms of the current application situation of multimedia-assisted English teaching in senior high school,the effect is unsatisfactory and there still exist many problems to be solved urgently.Therefore,it is of practical significance to investigate the application situation of multimedia-assisted English teaching in senior high school.Based upon the constructivist theory,multiple intelligence theory and learning motivation theory,this study aims to make a survey of the application situation of multimedia-assisted English teaching in senior high school.It attempts to answer the following three research questions:(1)What is the current application situation of multimedia-assisted English teaching in senior high school?(2)What are the major problems existing in the application of multimedia-assisted English teaching in senior high school?(3)What are the main factors that cause these problems? It adopts two questionnaires for 24 English teachers and 180 students respectively.Besides,it takes interview for 6 students and 6 teachers.Based upon the data retrieved,this study makes a detailed analysis and discussion of the results.The results of the research show that:(1)The application situation of multimedia-assisted teaching in senior high school are as follows: Most English teachers equip the skills to use multimedia in English teaching;The multimedia-assisted English teaching is more widely used in the aspects of listening and speaking in the process of English teaching;Teachers and students hold positive attitude towardsmultimedia-assisted English teaching in senior high school;Senior high school have carried out new explorations in multimedia-assisted English teaching and leads the reform of multimedia-assisted English teaching,such as the application of the interactive whiteboard and mobile learning software.(2)The problems existing in the multimedia-assisted English teaching in senior high school are reflected in the following aspects: In terms of equipment: The multimedia equipment cannot meet the needs of English teaching fully;For the part of teachers: Some teachers cannot transfer their computer skills into multimedia teaching skills reasonably;teachers rely too much on multimedia in the process of multimedia-assisted English teaching,and cannot reasonably combine multimedia-assisted teaching with traditional teaching;For students: Students in the multimedia learning environment cannot use the correct learning methods to cope with the new teaching model.(3)The following three elements which cause these problems in multimedia-assisted teaching are related with schools,teachers and textbooks.The deviations of school orientation have led teachers to fall into misunderstandings;In order to complete the teaching tasks faster,teachers will unconsciously speed up the teaching process,ignoring students' acceptance ability;Duo to the slow update of textbooks,the textbook layout is still consistent with traditional teaching methods.Therefore,it is difficult for teachers to display the content of the textbook through multimedia reasonably.The thesis is consists of five parts.The first chapter is the introduction part,which gives a brief overview of the whole research,including the research background,research purpose,research significance and the thesis structure.The second chapter is the part of literature review,which mainly summarizes the related theories of multimedia-assisted English teaching and reviews the previous research of multimedia-assisted English teaching at home and abroad.The third chapter is the part of research design,including research questions,research subjects,research methods and research procedures.The fourth chapter is data analysis and discussion,which is the core part of the thesis.The last part is conclusion,including the major findings,pedagogical implications,limitations of the research,some suggestions for future study and the summary of the whole study.
