Li Deyu And His Poetry Research

Li Deyu is a widely influential figure in the history of the middle and late Tang Dynasty.He is a famous politician who has been in politics for more than 30 years.He is also a writer with his works such as literature,Fu,poetry,and novels that passed down to later generations.One hundred and thirty-nine of his poems are collected in "All Tang Poems".In Li Deyu's poems,there is not only has the lofted and farsighted charm which the landscape poets such as Tao Yuanming,Wang Wei,Liu Changqing,Wei Yingwu has,but also the aureate language features which the court poets has.Generally speaking,his poems are quite different from those of the middle and late Tang Dynasty.The content of his poems are mainly focus on four types: making friends,expressing feelings,describing objects and relegation.Among these poems,a considerable number of works with the theme of recollections are presented in the form of group poems,which has become a major feature of Li Shi.In art,Li Deyu's poetry has also achieved achievements.He is good at taking images in his poetry and the description of scenery is abstruse and deep.The language of poetry presents the characteristics which combined simple freshness with gorgeous complexity.Due to the influence of political life,the emotions in poetry are complex and diverse,he expressed the ambition of serving the country as well as the thought of returning to hometown with a implicit lyric way and an open-mined attitude that deeply resentful but no angry.Li Deyu's poems are widely covered the Wu Gu,Qi Gu,Wu Lv,Qi Lv,quatrains,songs,etc.He is especially good at regulated verses and quatrains.Many of his poems have been selected into the poems of the past dynasties,which have a certain influence on the development of later poetry.Based on the existing data and the research results of modern scholars as well as Li Deyu's life experience,this paper analyzes the ideological connotation behind Li Deyu's poems.With his poetry art as the main research object,this paper explores the artistic characteristics of Li Deyu's poetry from three aspects: landscape art,language art and Lyric art,and tries to make an objective and fair evaluation of Li Deyu's literary achievements.
