| The Bible is the most influential Christian classic in the history of human civilization.The translation of the Bible started two thousands of years ago and has spanned many centuries.So far,the Bible has been translated into more than 2,000 languages and numerous versions.What kind of translation can satisfy the needs of target language readers has always been one of the key points for Bible translators in various countries.With the development of language and the changes of society,many countries in the world have published translations which were adapted to the times and adapted to the readers.This thesis is centered on the translation of the Bible in Japan.First,it introduces the relevant research about the translation of the Bible in Japanese academic circles and explains the two recent Japanese versions of the Bible.Secondly,it lists the research methods commonly used in modern Bibletranslation studies——foreignization and domestication,and analyses the general rules of translation strategies embodied in the perspective of foreignization and domestication: in order to ensure the sacredness of the Bible as well as the acceptability,foreignization and domestication should be used together,and in order to highlight the classical status of the Bible,more emphasis should be placed on foreignization.Next,with the example of retranslation in New Bible Translation 2017 as the center,this paper makes a comparison with the previous version of New Bible Translation.It analyses how the general law of foreignization and domestication is embodied in the new version of New Bible Translation 2017,and proves the necessity of retranslating the Japanese version of the Bible.Finally,taking the practice of Bible translation in Japan as an example,this paper explores the significance and importance of retranslation in the process of Bible localization from the perspective of translation,and looks forward to the enrichment and development of future Bible translation studies and translation strategies. |
