Tomasello's analysis of the structure of intentional behavior divides intentional behavior into goals, plans, behaviors, perception monitoring, and facts involving the external environment. His research focuses on how people understand the intentions of others in the history of human growth. He observes the various manifestations of the baby's growth process and studies the understanding of intentional behavior during the child's growth.Tomasello distinguishes children's understanding of the behavior of others from one year old to three levels. The first level: life behavior;the second level: the pursuit of goals;the third level: the choice of plans.Tomasello divides infant-involved activities involving shared intentionality into three categories: dual participation: sharing behaviors and emotions;ternary participation: sharing goals and perceptions;collaborative participation: joint intentions and joint concerns.Tomasello believes that these different types of social participation appear in this order in the growth of human individuals, accompanied by a specific way of understanding the behavior of others.Incorporating a specific person to guide one's intentional behavior, forming a shared intentionality. As the baby grows, they participate in a variety of language interactions after the age of one.Babies can change their minds after they grow up,and gradually understand the collective intentionality through the continuous enrichment of the structure of propositions. At this time, they use their broad-based others to guide their intentional behavior.Tomasello explained the root cause of shared intentionality through the assumption of human evolution. Those who actively share their intentions and are good at cooperation are better able to survive, and these qualities are gradually inherited.Tomasello's research provides abundant data support for the solution of the problem of irreducibility of collective intentionality.Based on the evidence of natural science, his theory answers the question of why individuals have collective intentionality and gets rid of the dilemma of circular argumentation that the irreducibility theory often falls into.
