Since the industrial revolution, the rapid development of science and technology has brought a lot of convenience to people's life, but at the same time, people increasingly feel that real life is controlled by science and technology. In this regard, marcuse,a representative of the Frankfurt school, criticized instrumental rationality and focused on the level of technical criticism. He believed that technical rationality in the developed industrial society was no longer neutral, but a form of controlling people by the ruling class.By analyzing marcuse's critique of technical rationality, this paper tries to find out the reasons that cause people to be restrained and try to find ways to get rid of the restraint. The paper is divided into three parts. In the first part, marcuse criticizes the core view of technical rationality. This paper first explores the source of marcuse's critical theory of technical rationality, then introduces the specific manifestation and characteristics of his dissimilation of technical rationality, and finally comes to his solution to dissimilation of technical rationality.Marcuse thinks that the proletariat in the political field, influenced by the alienation of technological rationality, has the tendency to merge with the bourgeoisie. In the field of culture, the high-level culture and the mass culture gradually converge, losing the criticism of high-level culture; In the field of life, people are influenced by consumerism and cannot distinguish "real"demand from "false" demand. The second part is the analysis of marcuse's critique of technical rationality. From the critical theory of marcuse's technical rationality,we can see that marcuse combined with the viewpoint of marxism, starting from the real life of human beings, deeply analyzed the characteristics of the alienation of technical rationality in the developed industrial society under the high development of technology. He analyzed the capitalist society from a critical perspective, from which he saw the one-sidedness of human beings, and considered the realistic environment in which human beings live and the role of human nature in this society.Part three.Reflection on the alienation of technological rationality. This paper focuses on the analysis of why the rapid development of science and technology in today's people will become more empty and not free. The real reason why people are not free in the current society is that the "acceleration" of society leads to overcapacity in some industries. The bourgeoisie,in order to maximize their own interests, sold the surplus products to the general public. In the end,the author hopes to find a way out of the non-free state of human beings by reflecting on the critique of technical rationality.
