The modern art education in China began in the new schools in the late Qing Dynasty,and the emergence of art education is also related to the specific needs of the teachers of the picture course in the primary and secondary schools.In the early period of the Republic of China,with the establishment of modern university system in China,higher art education was constructed by modern university system,and gradually formed two systems: professional art college and normal university art college.Under this premise,based on the relevant theories of art and art education and the important theoretical issues of art and art education in today's world,this paper explores the historical context,current situation,as well as the corresponding phenomena,background,causes and influences of modern art education in China.It should be noted that for a long time,the concept of "art" has been defined and canonized by the production of knowledge,the teaching of knowledge and the narration of art history in the Academy of fine arts,while the "boundary" of "art" has been constantly changing in the process of history.The first chapter of this paper will discuss how to imagine and practice art education in contemporary art scene by analyzing the relationship among art,art education and art college.In the second chapter,the art education under the modern university system is studied in the context of a hundred years' history since the late Qing Dynasty.It also provides the necessary historical logic,theoretical sources and discourse support for this study.The third chapter discusses the outstanding characteristics,objective demands,practical value and problem limitations of the two kinds of art education systems,i.e.the professional art college and the Art College of Normal University.Finally,based on the current situation of the two systems,the paper focuses on the new possibility of Chinese art education in the future,that is,since the 1990 s,especially after entering the 21 st century,China's art education takes the experimental art college of the Central Academy of fine arts as a typical "experiment" for the imagination and practice of China's art education in the future.At present,the two kinds of art education systems,professional art college and Art College of Normal University,need to think about how to fully practice the art education in line with their own attribute positioning between the "generous university education" and the contemporary art scene.First of all,relevant practitioners and participants should fully clarify the differences,backgrounds and connections between artists and art educators.While art education is constructed by the university system,the uniqueness,integrity andmobility of art education itself should not be ignored,so as to further promote art education to form an evolution path more in line with the demands of the times and historical mission.
