As the reform of primary school English gradually spreads across the country,the importance of aesthetic education and moral education in education,the reform of primary English teaching methods,and future development trends have received national and social attention.As a cultural carrier of communication,English ability is particularly important.And there are many ways to teach English.The trend of the integration of drama into education has kept up with the times.Drama in education,as a new teaching method in China,introduces the elements,methods and concepts of drama to allow students to play different roles,promote students' development and cognition,at the same time,satisfy them.To meet the diverse needs of student development,broaden the ways of English learning.The 2017 version of the English subject “Ordinary Senior Middle School Curriculum Standards” points out that the core literacy of the subject includes four dimensions: language ability,thinking quality,cultural awareness and learning ability.Drama in education is a special people-oriented and society-oriented teaching method.It is usually associated with reformed teaching methods and aims to cultivate students' creativity,spontaneity and communication skills.The elementary school stage is the most important stage of enlightenment in everyone's life,especially the primary language education.After consulting a large number of domestic and foreign literature,it was found that the application of drama in education in primary school English courses can theoretically improve students' English level of comprehensive.In order to inspire students' language potential,integrate aesthetic education,and implement the school's concept of “comprehensive development of Chinese and Western integration”,D Elementary School has launched a school-based English drama curriculum based on the school's existing drama club and drama curriculum.Drama in education,as a new English teaching method,has the same goal as the English curriculum standard in form and curriculum requirements.Based on a literature review of drama in education and school-based curriculum development in China and abroad,this study analyzes the necessity and feasibility of English drama school-based curriculum in D primary school by combining the theory of multiple intelligences,constructivism and the characteristics of cognitive development of primary school students.Based on this,a case study method was used to go deep into the D elementary school for an actual investigation.Through observation of the curriculum,in-depth interviews with students,teachers,and supervisors obtained real data,and analyzed the school-based English drama curriculum in D elementary school.The current status of curriculum development summarizes the successful experiences and shortcomings of the school's English drama school-based curriculum development.Finally,it proposes development strategies from three aspects: schools,teachers,and students to solve existing problems.Enrich curriculum development strategies by standardizing curriculum development and curriculum management systems,improving teachers' professionalism,taking student-oriented education,teaching students based on their aptitudes,broadening curriculum resources,optimizing curriculum structures,and establishing effective multiple evaluation mechanisms,so that students can better stand on the world stage,and get diversified development.
