We know that the characteristics of modernist art have been to constantly break the distinction between what is art and what is not art,and today, art is characterized by an unprecedented opening to the world that generates new possibilities. So,if there is no art world with formal authority over the results, what are our criteria for judging art?Studying Art Brut and Outsider Art is a process of constantly asking what art is.This is an entry point to explore the boundaries of art,and it is a process of studying how the cornerstone of the art system is built. If we define an artist as a professional in the art world, the concept of "art brut","outsider art" or "outsider artist" is itself a contradictory combination because it is defined as such a creator that they have not sought to obtain the social status of artists from beginning to end. They have never participated in our so-called art world from beginning to end, even they do not know the existence of the mainstream art world. The first two chapters of this article first reorganize and analyze the art history of Art Brut,Outsider Art,and Self-taught art, from Dubuffet 's original art concept to Roger Cardinal to the present. The evolution and differences between the more common amateur art in China. The third chapter introduces two types of artists that are relatively representative in the outsider art world in China to outline the outlines of outsider art.The first type is for artists who maintain absolute isolation from the mainstream world geographically and psychologically. The category is a psychic artist with a distance from the mainstream world in cultural value. The fourth chapter focuses on the interpretation of how mainstream art world recognizes outsider art,how to write outsider art,and how to use outsider art as a tool at different levels into the mainstream art world. The final chapter 5 summarizes how we should view outsider art and how the future of outsider art will go.
