Based on Lu Xun's novel “Regret for the past'',which is the first lyric opera,the Opera of the same name composed by Shi Guangnan contains four chapters: Spring,Summer,Autumn and Winter,It has been deeply integrated in the Western opera creation techniques and the Chinese national characteristics.It vividly portrays the tough and tenacious character of the young men and women bravely fighting against feudal ethics,and it is an immortal and prominent work of our national opera.The aria “Unfortunate Life”,found in the fourth chapter called "Winter",is part of China's first lyric opera “Regret for the past”,in which the music is extremely rich with a high level of singing difficulty.This article focuses on the creative background,character,singing skills of the work,emotional grasping and other aspects.Through the analysis of the composition structure,harmony,tonality,melody and piano accompaniment,it explains how the unification of objective sounding principles and the subjective emotional expressions have been integrated in the singing process in order to excavate the deep connotation of the work and to reflect its artistic value.
