With the rapid development of China's economy in recent years,the status of Chinese language in international exchanges has become more prominent than ever before.The international community's demand for Chinese is growing in both depth and breadth.Based on this background,Confucius Institutes,as a platform for cultural communication and promotion,have achieved rapid development all over the world.At present,courses of Confucius Institute can be mainly divided into language courses and cultural courses.And the cultural communication,as a result of language teaching,also reacts on language teaching.Factors such as the form,audience and foothold of cultural teaching not only affect the expected results,but also affect the synchronized language teaching activities.Based on the Confucius Institute of the University of Hull in the UK,the author studies its cultural teaching model and analyzes the characteristics and shortcomings of different cultural courses,so as to explore what kind of cultural teaching model is more suitable for the UK's Hull region and worthy of promotion.And then,it can provide relevant references for the further development of Confucius Institutes in the UK.Taking the cultural teaching mode of the Confucius Institute of the University of Hull in the UK as the main example and combining with the author's own internship experience,this paper conducts a comprehensive study on the influence of cultural teaching in teaching Chinese as a foreign language(TCSOL)on the dissemination of Chinese culture in the UK,hoping to put forward some suggestions on the development and design of cultural teaching mode.The paper is divided into five parts.In the first part,the author will briefly describe the historical development and current situation of cultural teaching in TCSOL in the UK from three aspects,including the background and purpose of the subject,the research status at home and abroad and the research methods.The second and third parts mainly analyze and elaborate the current situation of cultural teaching mode of Confucius Institute in the University of Hull.According to the audience,form,purpose and other aspects of course offering,thispaper analyzes the characteristics of its cultural course mode,and collects corresponding course feedback for summarizing and sorting.The fourth part combines theory with practice to explore the intercultural communication problems in the process of cultural teaching in Confucius Institute of the University of Hull and explore the application of intercultural communication-related theories in Chinese teaching mode,especially in cultural teaching mode.Combined with specific teaching examples,this paper analyzes the cultural teaching settings and modes of Confucius Institute in the University of Hull in the application of TCSOL and cross-cultural communication,and puts forward the author's own opinions and suggestions.The fifth part summarizes the whole paper,aiming at providing relevant thinking and valuable reference opinions for the improving of cultural teaching mode of Confucius Institutes in the future.
