In 2004, America’s first Confucius institute at the university of Maryland, in just 12 years later, the Confucius institute have sprung up in the United States is swift and violent development. As of June 2016, the United States launched 109 Confucius institutes and 348 Confucius classrooms, close to 300000 registered students, were the largest all over the world. The states of the Confucius institute in combination with the local characteristics, according to their teachers to carry out various forms of cultural activities in China, the cultural activities are warmly welcomed us states social people from all walks of life, has obtained the good effect on transmission of Chinese culture, but also exists many problems. This article selects the Confucius institute at Arizona state university as the research object, the content and forms of cultural activities of the organization studies, summarized its effect and influence, to analyze its changes, and finally with the model of “5w” analysis of Arizona state university Confucius institute, the problems existing in the cultural activities, aiming at these problems puts forward corresponding Suggestions, hope to the United States and other countries after Confucius institute can have a little reference for organizing cultural activities.Full text is divided into six parts. The introduction part elaborated the selected topic background and significance. The first part is the literature review, first put forward in this paper, the theoretical basis, namely “5w” propagation theory, then discusses Confucius institutes shoulder the heavy task of cultural transmission, summarizes the current research situation of the academic activities of the Confucius institute culture, analysis of existing problems and reasons of Confucius institute in the United States. The second part is mainly the Confucius institute at Arizona state university in the United States, for example, to carry out the content and forms of cultural activities are classified research, mainly divided into three categories: experience lessons, lectures on Chinese culture, Chinese and Chinese culture and BBS, Chinese culture theme activities, respectively, summarizes the effect and influence, analyzes its characteristics and change. The third part, according to Harold Dwight Lasswell’s “5w” propagation theory, pointed out that the Confucius institute at the university of cultural activities to carry out the problems in the process, mainly has: disseminator of individual quality improvement; The spread of Chinese culture content innovation is insufficient; The Chinese culture spreading way is unitary; Ignore the audience feedback; The lack of effective evaluation system. Conclusion part summarizes the shortcomings and the innovation of this article.
