An Investigation Of The Current Situation Of Oral English Teaching In Suburban Primary Schools

The new English curriculum standard clearly proposes to develop students' comprehensive language ability,which means that oral English teaching is another important teaching content of English curriculum.However,the current situation of oral English Teaching in our primary school is not optimistic: the traditional teaching concept brought by exam oriented education almost ignores the existence of oral English teaching.This study is based on the suburb of Tianjin,which has a rapid economic development and a large number of foreign population.It uses the literature analysis method to analyze this region,and carries out a questionnaire survey on the current situation of oral English Teaching in primary schools in this region.Samples are drawn from the primary English teachers who are the sixth grade English teaching work and some students they teach.From these two perspectives,it is analyzed and matched with interviews of teachers Research together.It is found that in the cognitive aspect,although most teachers attach great importance to the improvement of their professional awareness,they do not have a clear understanding of the relevant theories of oral English Teaching in primary schools.In the aspect of behavior,although teachers pay attention to the selection of teaching content in combination with the reality of life,and it is difficult and appropriate,but the purpose and form of activity design are not conducive to the implementation of oral English teaching activities,the guidance of students' learning strategies is also limited to the examination content,too many questions in the classroom are concerned with poor students,and the opportunity and way of teachers' error correction and evaluation are also inadequate.All of these have a bad effect on Pupils' attitude and ability to learn spoken English.In view of these problems,the author puts forward some suggestions for the oral English Teaching in primary schools based on the literature,hoping to have some reference value for the oral English Teaching of English teachers in this area.
