An Experimental Study On The Intonation Of The Focus Sentence Emphasized By Thai Students In Chinese "Shi"

Based on the thoery of intonation pattern,this article uses the method of experimental phonetics to analysze the intonation of “shi” emphasis focus sentences by Thai students from three aspects:pitch,length,and intensity,and compares with Mandarin data,to sum up the intonation errors of Thai students' “shi” emphasis focus sentences.Then analyzes the causes of the errors and put forward some relevant teaching suggestions.This thesis is divided into five chapters:Chapter1,Introduction.Clarify the research purpose of this article,introduce the international research on language focus,intonation and intonation acquisition,and explain the innovation of this article.Chapter2,Experimental description.This chapter provides a general introduction to experiments,including sentences,speakers,recording formats,experimental steps,and data processing methods.Chapter3,experiment and analysis.This chapter analyzes and compares the “shi” emphasized focus sentences of Chinese students and Thai students from the aspects of pitch,length,and volume,and summarizes the intonation characteristics of the “shi” emphasized focus sentences in Mandarin.And contrast the intonation errors of Thai students.Chapter4,analyzes the reasons for the errors of the “shi” emphasized focus sentences in Thai students and puts forward teaching suggestions based on their mistakes.Chapter 5,conclusion.The main conclusion of this paper is as follows: the intonation range,length,and intensity of the focus word are almost unchanged compared to the declarative sentence by Thai students,marked words have a wide tone range,and the upper line exceeds the upper line of focus,with longer segments and increased volume.The focus of the sentence is not highlighted in the intonation.
