On The Logical Structure And Semantic Types Of Metaphors In "Homer's Epic"

As the origin of western humanistic romanticism,Homer's epic has always been concerned by Western experts and scholars.Aristotle is especially fond of it.In his works,the examples of epic are often used as materials,and the study of epic language is also appreciated by everyone in all aspects.Based on the research of many researchers,this paper mainly focuses on the metaphor in epic Logical structure and semantic type are analyzed.The research object and data source of this paper will mainly focus on the Chinese Greek version of Homer Epic translated by Mr.Luo and Mr.Wang.Because this paper mainly studies the field of language logic and explores the thinking problems in the use of language,the use of the literal version can still maintain the loyalty to the original language thinking to a large extent.Firstly,this paper states the thesis from three aspects: the historical background of epic,the proposition of metaphor research,and the significance of the research;secondly,starting from the concept of metaphor research,it summarizes and discusses the research on metaphor in the academic history of China and the west,mainly discusses the types and logical structures of metaphor that many scholars have done before.The main research method is literature research.Based on the Homer Epic translated directly by Luo niansheng and Wang Huansheng,the author combs out and selects the relevant examples from it.Meanwhile,in the process of analysis,the author will use the English version of the translation for reference in metaphor research.In addition,the author will explain the relevant examples in the paper,and then analyze the types and structures of metaphor,which will use case analysis.At the same time,this paper will combine the knowledge of related disciplines to analyze the relevant characteristics of metaphor,and make a comprehensive analysis of the number of various types of metaphor.Therefore,the research methods used in this paper include literature research,case analysis,interdisciplinary research and quantitative analysis.The theory used in this paper is based on the previous scholars' discussion of metaphor structure.It mainly borrows the logic analysis thought of Huang satellite and its specific operation method to make a theoretical logic analysis of metaphor in epic.In addition,the semantic types of metaphor will be explored.This paper starts with the analysis of the ontology semantic types of metaphor in epic,finds out theontology semantic types which are used more frequently,and then starts from the semantic content of the vehicle,according to the analysis of metaphor structure in the previous article,explores the proportion of the semantic types of things and events in the vehicle semantics,and makes a quantitative analysis of the semantic types of the vehicle.Based on the above analysis,this paper draws the following conclusions: the metaphorical forms in epic can be divided into six types: Lexical Metaphors,descriptive metaphors,analogical metaphors,event metaphors,mixed metaphors and symbolic metaphors."Homeric metaphor" is a kind of discourse mixed metaphor,which takes description metaphor and mixed metaphor as the main body in structure and natural things as the metaphor in semantics.In addition,on the basis of quantitative analysis of metaphor and metonymy,this paper finds that Jacobson's "two axis theory" is not universal for literary texts.
