The Relationship Between Achievement Motivation And Entrepreneurial Intention Of Retired Athletes

In the context of the new era,more and more athletes start their own businesses when they retired.Entrepreneurship is the basic driving force for the development of social and economic activities,and the economic vitality brought by innovation can continuously promote social development and progress.In the field of entrepreneurship research,entrepreneurial intention is a fundamental and common variable.However,there is no relevant research on the entrepreneurial intention of athletes at present.Under the current social background,it is necessary to study the theory and mechanism of entrepreneurial intention of retired athletes.Based on the theoretical model of entrepreneurial planned behavior theory,this study took retired athletes as the research object,and entrepreneurial self-efficacy and proactive coping style as the mediating variables to explore the relationship between achievement motivation and entrepreneurial intention.The achievement motivation scale,entrepreneurial self-efficacy scale,prospective coping style scale and entrepreneurial intention scale were used to measure 303 retired athletes from nine provinces and cities in China,and the structural equation model was established and the relationship between variables was tested.The results show that :(1)there is a significant correlation between achievement motivation,entrepreneurial self-efficacy,proactive coping style and entrepreneurial intention of retired athletes;(2)the achievement motivation of retired athletes has a significant positive effect on entrepreneurial intention.The total effect of standardization is 0.228.The higher the level of achievement motivation of retired athletes is,the higher the entrepreneurial intention is.(3)in the relationship between achievement motivation and entrepreneurial intention of retired athletes,entrepreneurial self-efficacy and proactive coping style play a significant mediating role,which is partly mediated,with the total mediating effect validity value of 1.952 and the effect quantity of 0.600.(4)the direct effect of retired athletes' achievement motivation on entrepreneurial intention was significantly negative,with a direct effect value of-1.298 and an effect quantity of 0.400.(5)retired athletes' entrepreneurial self-efficacy and prospective coping style have a covering effect on their entrepreneurial intention.The covering effect of prospective coping style is 0.820,while the covering effect of entrepreneurial self-efficacy is 0.682.In the future research,we plan to carry out in the following aspects.(1)further expand the sample size and gradually expand the scope of sampling to cover retired athletes from different regions,sports events and sports levels,especially the top level;(2)select more accurate measurement methods,control irrelevant variables,improve the accuracy of measurement data,develop achievement motivation and entrepreneurial intention scales for athletes,and extend the research method beyond empirical research;(3)the direct effect of retired athletes' achievement motivation on entrepreneurial intention was found to be negative in this study,which could be combined with theories related to retired athletes' transformation to introduce athlete identity into the intermediary process and further explore its mechanism.
