China's first Buddhist nun inspection appeared in the late Western Jin Dynasty, after which the Buddhist nun team continued to grow and develop, becoming an important part of Buddhism during the Six Dynasties. The biography of Buddhist nun written by Shi Baochang is the earliest biography of Buddhist nun.It records the deeds of 65 famous Buddhist nun in Jin,Song,Qi and Liang dynasties.Regarding the selection criteria,Shi Baochang paid great attention to the moral character of these nuns. She paid particular attention to moral qualities and personal cultivation, and wanted to set a model for later generations.Among them,Buddhist nun, whose family background is recorded,is a clan, and nearly half of them do not mention their family background. Therefore, they cannot be generalized, but their educational level is generally good. These nuns have complex and diverse relationships, frequent exchanges, and close ties with the royal family and the high noble family. This kind of friendship has become a common phenomenon.Through the analysis of individual cases,we can see the micro-information and gain a deep understanding of the common characteristics of these nuns. When they faced a conflict, they all achieved their ultimate victory, and these descriptions have promoted Buddhist nun's prestige. The activities of these monks were also strongly supported by the clans, and their activities also helped the clans strengthen their rule and benefited each other. The study of these Buddhist nun identities and contacts also helps to further understand the characteristics of Buddhism during the Eastern Jin and Southern Dynasties.
