The Artistic Characteristics And Performance Analysis Of Faure's "Ship Song"

Gabriel Faure(1845-1924),a French composer,was one of the composers with original spirit at that time,whose main works of music creation were concentrated from the end of the 19 th century to the beginning of the 20 th century.Faure’s music creation styles include piano music,religious music,art songs,etc.,among which Faure’s piano works include boat song,impromptu and prelude,etc."Barcarolle" is the core of Faure’s piano creation.Thirteen barcarolle have been created throughout Faure’s life for nearly 40 years.Faure has also become one of the most famous composers to create "barcarolle".Faure’s barcarolle has a more refined theme melody,the structure of the song is mostly in the form of a trilogy,and the harmony is rich in use.This paper begins with the description of the characteristics of late romantic music creation and analyzes and grasses the main features of Faure’s piano works.Then combining with the introduction of the creation of Faure’s barcarolle,three representative works of Faure’s barcarolle in the early,middle and late stage were selected,and the melody and harmonic music characteristics of the works were analyzed.In order to better master the artistic characteristics of Faure’s barcarolle,the performance skills of the work in the processing of melody line,rhythm and harmony texture were analyzed and grasped in practice.
