A Preliminary Exploration Of New Changes In The Process Of Latin American Integratio

As one of the earliest in the world to open the regional integration process,Latin America and the Caribbean(hereinafter referred to as Latin America)have rich experience in regional and sub-regional cooperation.In recent years,with the world economic situation changed,the Latin American political pendulum movement has occurred again,and the political ecological background of “retreat from left to right” has pulled down the development and evolution of the sub-regional organizations in Latin America,and the overall process of integration has also begun to slow down and differentiated.Based on the historical evolution of Latin American integration,this paper focuses on the two sub-regional integration organizations in the Latin American region,Mercado Común del Sur(MERCOSUR)and Alianza del Pacífico(The Pacific Alliance),whose development models have their own characteristics.The MERCOSUR emphasizes the overall political nature and is committed to establishing a customs union while the Pacific Alliance is a new type of integrated organization that embraces the open Asia-Pacific market;there is no conflict and confrontation between the two organizations,but the development situation is obviously different.The Common Market of The South is in a state of stagnation and the Pacific Alliance has been highly hoped by the region through its positive economic performance.This article compares the establishment,development model,and dynamic mechanism of the MERCOSUR and the Pacific Alliance to understand more recent trends in the current Latin American integration process and how it changes and interacts under multiple factors.
