Research On The Social Integration Of Drug Addicts

Due to the breakdown of family relationship,lack of occupation and lack of social support,drug addicts often find it difficult to integrate into society and even take the road of relapse.Prejudice,exclusion and discrimination that drug addicts encounter in their social life always exist,which becomes an obstacle for them to integrate into the mainstream society after rehabilitation.The main purpose of this study is to explore the social,cultural and institutional factors affecting the social integration of drug addicts on the basis of case studies,and how these factors dynamically affect their social integration,and to explore ways to promote the social integration of drug addicts.In this study,drug addicts as"offenders,victims,patients"and other comprehensive identity as the analytical framework,through standing in the perspective of drug addicts,listen to drug addicts'feelings,understanding and interpretation of the process of integration into society.This study pays special attention to the influence of institutional factors and socio-cultural factors on the social integration of drug addicts.This study adopts qualitative case study method.In order to restore the true appearance of drug addicts as far as possible,the author selected 32 different types of drug addicts for in-depth interviews.In terms of age distribution,the respondents ranged from 12 in 19-30 years old to 13 in 31-40 years old,4 in 41-50 years old and 3 in 51-60 years old.In terms of gender,there were 27 males and 5 females.Twenty-four respondents were in compulsory isolation for drug detoxification.In addition,in order to fully understand the social integration of drug addicts,the author also conducted in-depth interviews with two drug addicts police,two drug addicts social workers and one residential committee staff.The survey found that the factors affecting the social integration of drug addicts include cultural exclusion under the influence of labels,distorted relationship network under the break of social support,individual psychological barriers caused by cognitive problems,self-exclusion caused by internal group identity,etc.Even if drug treatment institutions define the triple attributes of"offender,victim and patient",the public does not accept them,and discrimination and exclusion are inevitable.The psychological problems of drug addicts should be paid enough attention.Paranoid personality,together with social discrimination,seriously blocked the social integration of drug addicts.At the same time,group identity and spiritual community identity within drug addicts isolate the interaction between drug addicts and other groups.
