The rapid advancement of urbanization has brought drastic changes to China’s economic and social structure. While the rural economy is transforming and developing, traditional rural settlement patterns are also changing.Due to the long-term existence of the urban-rural dual system, the gap between urban and rural areas in China has been constantly widened. The insufficient public infrastructure and low level of social services in rural areas have seriously hindered the sustainable development of China’s economy and society. To this end,in 2006,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China proposed the “Building a New Rural Community” as a major initiative at the Sixth Plenary Session of the Sixteenth Central Committee. However, due to the lack of theoretical and practical experience, problems occurred frequently in the construction of new rural communities, which led to the farmers’ sense of identity with the new communities and their sense of happiness in life greatly reduced. Therefore, how to explore a new model of community construction satisfying farmers based on the new changes in the spatial structure of rural settlements is one of the key issues related to cracking the urban-rural "dual" structure and implementing the rural revitalization in China.New-type rural community construction has broken the traditional living space structure of rural residents in China and brought direct impact on the production and life of farmers. In view of various types of new-type rural community construction models,to discuss the reconstruction of their living space can not only enrich the relevant theories and empirical research results of new-type rural community construction in China, but also provide decision-making reference for the development practice of new-type rural community construction in China, which has important theoretical and practical significance.Based on the existing research results, this paper first defines the concept of new rural community, living space and spatial reconstruction.Secondly, three new rural communities in Jining city are taken as typical cases to introduce the construction and development status of the three communities. On this basis, the index system of satisfaction evaluation of the reconstruction of new rural community living space is constructed. Then the cross analysis method is used to explore the intensity and influencing factors of farmers’ willingness to reconstruct the community living space again with different characteristics. Finally, according to the different living needs of farmers, this paper tries to put forward new strategies for optimizing the living space of rural communities under different modes. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The satisfaction of residents in different communities on the reconstruction of living space varies greatly.Relatively speaking, the more complete the infrastructure of the community, the higher the management level, the more consistent the design and construction of the living space with the production and lifestyle of the farmers, and the higher the satisfaction of the residents.(2)Gender,age,occupation,educational level of farmers and family income levels will reconstruct again for farmers will strongly affect the community living space, among them, the elderly, farmers and low-income people reconstruct the strong appetite of multi-storey residential space, while the young people, businessmen, and high earners for limited parking space reconstruction will stronger.(3)For communities with high level of economic development and where rural households are mainly engaged in non-agricultural production, the way of production and life of residents is close to the city, and the design and construction of living space should also be urbanized. While ensuring that the number of various infrastructure can meet the needs, space should also be reserved for the future development of the community.(4)For the communities with relatively backward economic development and most farmers engaged in agricultural production, the living habits and lifestyles of residents are quite different from those of cities,so the design and construction of living space should be more rural.(5)New rural communities located at the edge of cities and towns are strongly affected by urban radiation, and the construction and layout of their infrastructure should fully consider the allocation of surrounding resources to avoid idle resources.
