The Impact Of India-Pakistan's Negative Nuclear Learning On The India-Pakistan Conflict

In 1945,as the United States dropped atomic bombs named "Little Boys" and "Fat Boys" to Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan,the nuclear age began.It also shows that human beings get the power of self-destruction since then.Security dilemma is one of the core theories in the field of international relations.The nuclear security dilemma has attracted the attention of the entire world.The use of atomic energy in peace and war is the two sides of the same coin.This characteristic of nuclear weapon causes nuclear security dilemma.Now,India and Pakistan in South Asia do not only have nuclear capabilities,but also are out of the international nuclear non-proliferation system,which highlights the nuclear security dilemma in South Asia.The two countries both claim that their nuclear power is only used for nuclear deterrence.However,according to the launch range and the power of nuclear warhead from India and Pakistan,it cannot be hard to be concluded that nuclear weapons for combat have appeared in their nuclear arsenals.It will further affect bilateral strategic stability and cause a series of other concerned security issues.All these factors make the situation of nuclear security in South Asia not optimistic.Compared with United States and the Soviet Union,the issue of nuclear weapons of the South Asian has showed both similarities and particularities.Considering this,the core question that this article tries to answer is: with the international pressure and international sanctions,why do India and Pakistan still choose to compete to develop their nuclear capabilities and stay outside the NPT system? How do India and Pakistan play a game with each other based on the purpose of nuclear deterrence? The risk of nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan is increasing,and then what measures can be taken to reduce the risk?In order to analyze the game between India and Pakistan more comprehensively,it takes the theory of security dilemma,nuclear deterrence and nuclear learning as a base to analyze the reason and the process of negative nuclear learning between India and Pakistan,and uses comparative analysis to analyze why US-Soviet relations have become more stable because of nuclear factors,while the risk of nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan has increased as the existence of nuclear power.It also uses case analysis to verify how negative nuclear learning can greatly enhance the risk of India-Pakistan nuclear conflict.Finally,measures to reduce the risks are provided.
