| Since the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,President Xi Jinping has made important instructions on strengthening and improving military service and conscription.As recruitment institutions are extended to colleges and universities,college students are the main targets for recruitment,so that colleges and universities have become important reserves for soldiers as well as main positions for recruiting.The number of college students joining the army has increased year after year.Therefore,retired college students,as a "special group" on campus,are getting more and more attention from universities and all walks of life.The huge differences between the military camp and the campus,and the ever-changing social changes,have caused the inadaptation to campus life to some retired college students when they return to school.In terms of learning and interpersonal communication particularly,these inadaptation may have a far-reaching impact on the academic and future employment of retired college students to a certain extent.Most of current related researches focused on the part of psychology and pedagogy.This study attempts to use social work professional concepts and methods to help retired college students to improve their campus adaptability and enable them to integrate into campus life better.In this study,all retired college students from Jinggangshan University were investigated as samples.The current status of them and the factors that led to their inadaption were analyzed and sorted out via interviews and other approaches.According to the collation of the interview content,it was found that the group members had problems in the following three aspects:(1)difficulties in professional learning,(2)lack of enthusiasm for active learning,and(3)tense relationships with new classmates.Further analysis of the data revealed that the needs of the team members were mainly expressed in three aspects:(1)the need for relieving their strangeness in professional learning and increasing their interest in it;(2)the need for correcting their misunderstanding to learning and increasing their autonomous learning ability;(3)the need for improving the relationship of them with new classmates and the ability interpersonal communication.As a result,social workers used group work methods to improve team members’ campus adaptability issues and achieved certain results.In terms of professional learning,group members recognized the importance of learning,and their learning attitudes were more proactive,with their interests and self-confidence gradually increased.In terms of interpersonal communication,the group members mastered certain communication skills and had a harmonious relationship with classmates.In addition,the group members supported each other and established a strong peer relationship,and thegroup cohesion increased consistently.The practical process was carried out,and it was found that the work of the group can help the retired college students strengthen the cohesion of them and improve their enthusiasm for active learning and interpersonal communication ability.At the same time,the following four aspects of this study are worthy of reflection:(1)the content of group activities is not flexible enough;(2)the professional level of social workers needs to be improved;(3)social workers must learn to empathize with the group members during activities;(4)social workers should pay attention to the to the sustainability of service effects. |
