The fact that the “empty nest youths” has been regarded as a specific group is indisputable.Relevant topics about “empty nest youth” have been hotly debated on the internet and in society.Reports by the media are mainly focus on the top-down review of this group.In the academic circles,there are few complete research results on “empty nest youths”,which are about “young people” connotative essence and basic characteristics,formation mechanism and its social foundation,multidimensional theory and perspective interpretation,group analysis and type division,work and life pressure and support measures,social psychological problems and coping methods,and so on.This article starts with the daily life of “empty nest youths” by participatory observations and in-depth interviews,attempts to comprehensively describe the living conditions and lifestyles of “empty nest youths”,to understand the group's life trajectory.In particular,the social relationships of “empty nest youths” were explored,such as kinship,karma,and fun relationships,from parental support to daily life with colleagues,then to the indispensability of friends,it outlines the social interaction of the “empty nest youth” well.Being alone but not lonely,intimate but not close are the orientation and characteristics of the social life of empty nest youths.Undoubtedly,the emergence of “empty-nest youth” is the embodiment of the individualization process in Chinese society.The topic “being lonely and not alone” describes the living status of “empty-nest youth”,living alone and independently,and living alone does not mean loneliness.Being intimate but not close is an accurate overview of the social interactions of the “empty nest youth” group in the process of socialization.For social relations,the relatives of the “empty nest youth” is a kind of social dependence on parents,friends and colleagues,but this social dependence maintains a corresponding sense of alienation and unique thinking in the process of socialization.The “empty nest youth” is an issue of individuals and collectives,the change from the collective awareness to individual consciousness,and the change from the “big family” to the emphasis on “self”.This thesis is divided into five chapters.The first chapter introduction mainly introduces the origin of the research,combs the corresponding literature from three aspects: “empty nest”,daily life,and social relations,and determines the research methods and the concept of “empty nest youth”.The second chapter starts with the daily life of the “empty nest youth”,mainly introduces the living conditions of the group,the consumption concept of LOHAS,and the dependence on virtual space,and shows their “alone but not lonely” from daily clothing,food and housing.The third chapter focuses on the daily connection of the group,mainly including inter generational relationships with parents,karma relationships with colleagues,and fun relationships with friends.This chapter explains “intimate but not close” of “empty nest youth” from the perspective of social relations.Chapter four focuses on active selection and letting nature take its course.On the mind of “empty nest youth”,living alone is a transitional state and a pavement for future life.In the concluding part of Chapter five,the article points the ideas of this article through theoretical dialogues.The reflection on the social changes of the “empty nest youths” is of great significance for the further research on individualization.
