| Education will be the first step when we advance the rule of law comprehensively and cultivate citizens’ awareness of it.In June 2016,Youth Rule of Law Education Syllabus was released,which further stipulates the target positioning,principle requirement and implementation path for arranging the rule of law education in the national education system.Standard of Ideological and Political Curriculum of Ordinary Senior High School(2017 Edition),which was formally issued in January,2018,also regards high school students’ awareness of the rule of law as one of the core qualities of ideological and political subjects and places the cultivation of it as the goal of the curriculum.Under the circumstances,The cultivation of the core quality of legal consciousness,which is promoted through the ideological and political course of senior high school,is beneficial to not only the comprehensive development of students,but also the realization of the unique educational value of ideological and political disciplines.Judging from the current state of cultivation of the core consciousness of the rule of law,there is a gap between the status quo of the rule of law consciousness of high school students and the requirements of the new curriculum standards.The former mainly demonstrates that high school students have the desire to further study the knowledge of the rule of law,respect and trust the law and actively follow the law;the latter mainly indicates that high school students’knowledge of it cannot meet the requirements,their thinking needs further training,there is a need for further formation in their belief,and the actions of their using and protecting law enforcement are insufficient.Questionnaire surveys and interviews show that the current senior high school ideological and political class has gained some achievements in cultivating students’awareness of the rule of law.It is manifested in the fact that they are the main channels for high school students,where they can have access to initial life-related legal knowledge,and the cultivation of the sense of law.In spite of this,the current high school ideological and political curriculum also faces some challenges in nurturing high school students’ awareness of the rule of law.It is reflected on the scattering of legal knowledge in compulsory textbooks for senior high school ideological and political courses and the lack of close links with junior high school textbooks.Besides,the methods of assessment and measurement on the consciousness are single,and the negative situation in the real society dilutes the effect of cultivating core literacy in the classroom.In order to implement the cultivation requirements of the core quality of the rule of law consciousness in the new curriculum standard,the high school ideological and political class should take some actions from the following aspects:firstly,excavating teaching materials to help high school students build a knowledge system of the rule of law;secondly.innovating classroom forms to construct a speculative class fostered by the rule of law;thirdly,strengthening social activities to enhance students’ confidence in the rule of law;finally,constructing an evaluation system to evaluate students’ awareness of the rule of law. |
