Physical geography is important in geography.The Compulsory Textbook Geography(I)provides senior high school students with basic physical geography knowledge.Physical geography knowledge is a prerequisite of senior high school geography and it is also a requirement of geographical literacy students.This paper focuses on students' difficulties and solutions.By data processing,questionnaire survey and interviews,this paper studies students' difficulties from three aspects: learning,teaching and subject planning and proposes solutions accordingly.Based on theories of cognitive learning,metacognition,zone of proximal development and teaching optimization,by collecting and analyzing data and by referring to the geography curriculum standard,this paper makes an analysis on the situation of students' learning.The result shows that most of the students are faced with difficulties in physical geography learning.The author analyzed the causes based on data and interviews and puts forward three solutions: teachers should teach students gradually according to textbook's features.Teachers also need to make preparation flexibly according to the feature of discipline.Besides,teachers need to focus on students' geography literacy,learning method,correct analysis of credits and their confidence.Moreover,teachers should set proper goals for students to improve their learning steadily.Teachers need to summarize the connection among knowledge points to form a knowledge framework.The school should encourage teachers to enrich teaching materials,develop school-based courses,enrich intuitional teaching aids,keep up with the times and implement new teaching ideas etc.
