The speed of the development of the world is far beyond our imagination.All countries are trying to improve their competitiveness,which depends on whether the education of the country can adapt to the development speed of the world economy and the science and technology,thus STEAM education emerges at this right moment.STEAM(Science,Technology,Engineering,Mathematics and Arts)education refers to the integration of the courses of science,technology,engineering,mathematics and art,which aims to avoid the disconnection between various disciplines and cultivate the knowledge and ability of the learners to solve the problem by integrating various disciplines,as well as the ability to design high-quality products creatively.In recent years,our country has also introduced STEAM education into all stages of education,but in China,STEAM education only rises in a small number of makers' enterprise or informal education activities.In the same time,it is difficult to introduce it into the formal school education,it is hard to fuse it with normal teaching subjects offered in reality.Based on the exploration and research of STEAM education by domestic and foreign scholars in recent years,this paper tries to combine the STEAM education with mathematical activities,explore the development of mathematical activities based on the STEAM thoughts.First of all,through the analysis of literature research,and through the analysis of STEAM and mathematics education goals and their characteristics.The value of STEAM education and mathematics activity integration is consistent with the research direction of modern mathematics education,in line with the direction of China's mathematics curriculum reform,it can improve students' core qualities,innovation and learning interests.Secondly,through the relevant theoretical basis and the research on STEAM teaching mode,the design patterns of mathematic activities based on STEAM are summarized,and the corresponding design flow is analyzed in detail,and related cases are designed.Finally,at a school in Pudong,there are two classes as the object of application research.We will practice the case of mathematics activities based on the STEAM concept designed and developed in this paper.We will further validate the mathematics based on STEAM thinking by observing the teaching process,conducting interviews and questionnaire surveys with teachers and students,and displaying and evaluating student works.Activities can increase students'participation in learning,improve students' interest in learning mathematics,help students develop comprehensive application of various subject knowledge,improve their core qualities,and help cultivate students' creativity and hands-on exploration capabilities.
