Cultivating the creativity of students is the basic value orientation of current elementary education reform,which is also the unstopping pursuit of Senior High school's geographic education.Creativity is based on question and speculation,while the ability of inductive reasoning can transform question and speculation into conclusion.That is to say,the ability of inductive reasoning is the basis of creativity.However,there exists a common phenomenon in our class that teachers often attach more importance to deduction than induction,leading to unfavorable effects in the cultivation of creational talents.Having considered the above elements,this paper lays emphasis on cultivating senior students' ability of inductive reasoning,meanwhile,the related teaching design has been provided for further research,both of which are intended to offer worthwhile inferences.The background research covers the following four aspects:the tendency of international development of elementary education,the requirements of reform of China's elementary education,the request of improving students' cognitive skills and the basis of developing the qualities of geographic study.It is concluded that inductive reasoning,drawing attention in and abroad,is of significant worth in promoting the cultivation of students' intellect and qualities as well as a vital part of their learning abilities.Then,while consulting quantities of books and summarizing related researches on Logics,Psychology and subject teaching,in particular the inductive reasoning of geographic research,the author finds that those researches are more focused on logical reasoning than cultivation of inductive reasoning.Besides,there are more researches on teaching contents and strategies but few are concerned with how to cultivate students' ability of inductive reasoning.What's more,Combined with some teaching cases,this paper refers to the content and classification of inductive reasoning.That is to say,it can be divided into two categories:complete inductive reasoning and imperfect inductive,the latter of which can furtherly be classified into inductive reasoning by simple enumeration and scientific inductive inference,laying emphasis to a solid fact that scientific inductive is an important way to motivate the development of students' cognitive ability.In the end,after having furtherly interpreted the new Senior Geography Curriculum Standards and senior school's geographic teaching content,the author finds that both of them have made specific requirements of senior students' inductive reasoning ability.After a series of theoretical researches and means of questionnaire,the author gets to know that the current level of senior students' inductive reasoning is unsatisfying,let alone teachers are lacking in the awareness of intentional cultivation.In the meanwhile,basic procedures and principles in the teaching design on how to cultivate students,inductive reasoning will also be mentioned.At last,the author works out some typical teaching cases and applies them into practice,coming to a conclusion that the mentioned method of teaching design has a far reaching impact on cultivating students' ability of inductive reasoning.
