In physics teaching,the common methods are the experiment method,the teaching method,the discussion method and so on.The reading method has not become a common teaching method.But since the written form has been recorded and disseminating knowledge,reading has been the main way for people to learn,and physics is no exception.Therefore,we should often use reading method in middle school's physics teaching to teach students physical reading methods,develop the habit of physical reading,and cultivate self-learning ability.Therefore,reading method should also be a common method of physics teaching.This paper discusses the definition of the concept of physical reading,physical reading teaching content and the significance and importance of the reading method.Besides,it investigates and analyses the status of the physical reading teaching,including the summary of reading material in the textbook,the analysis of 10 physics teaching cases,a questionnaire conducted on 32 physics teachers in 3 high schools in Nanjing and some teachers for further interviews.The survey purposes on knowing their attitudes of physical reading,the present situation of reading in class,their reading habits and their usage and comprehend of physical reading method.The survey results show that the quantity of the material in the textbook is too little to meet the needs of students' reading and to reflect the importance of physical reading.The number of extra-curricular books recommended is not much.Although there is contact between the material in the textbook and the extra-curricular books,the targeted is not strong.In the physical teaching,reading is relatively common,but the form is single--teachers guide students to read and lack of the learning of reading methods and evaluation system.Interviews with physics teachers show that teachers don't think highly of physical reading,do not understand the concept of law and the principle of using reading etc..This study analyzes the status of the above investigation and puts forward some suggestions to solve the problem.
