Happiness is the eternal pursuit of human beings,and cultural consumption is an important way for people to obtain happiness.With the continuous and stable growth of China's economy,the living standard of residents is also improving,and their pursuit of happiness is more enthusiastic.Cultural consumption,as a type of consumption that can act on the spiritual level of human beings,can shape people's spiritual world and affect their perception of happiness.Therefore,how cultural consumption affects happiness is an important research topic.Based on Chinese residents as the research object,according to the theory of Maslow's hierarchy of needs,quality of life and Bourdieu's cultural consumption theory as theoretical basis of research,since the change of cultural consumption,for happiness,because of the change and select important variables in(gender,place of residence,income level,level of education,marital status)as control variables(through the multicollinearity test,after rejecting the gender and residence),to form the research framework of cultural consumption and happiness relations.Based on the analysis of some data related to the above variables in the survey data of CGSS(2015),this paper uses the method of correlation analysis and stepwise regression to deeply analyze and discuss the impact of Chinese residents' cultural consumption on their happiness.By taking income,education level and marital status as control variables,we observed the differences of the relationship between them under different control variables.Finally,the reaearch finds that there do exists a significant positive correlation between cultural consumption and happiness,that is,with the increase of cultural consumption frequency,residents' happiness level would also increase.Morever,different cultural consumption patterns have different effects on the promotion of happiness.Specifically: “watching TV or DVDS”,“reading”and“listening to music”,these three terms can promote the happiness of Chinese residents obviously,while“going to movies”,“participating in cultural activities”have no significant impact on residents' happiness.In addition,the income,degree of education and marital status of Chinses residents do make a difference in the impact of cultural consumption on happiness.To be specific,in terms of income level,taking annual income of 160,000 yuan as the cut-off point,in this income stage and above,the influence of cultural consumption on happiness is no longer significant.For the level of education,the cut-off point is “postgraduate and above”,cultural consumption cannot have a significant impact on theis happiness.In terms of marital status,the married group is more likely than the unmarried group to feel the promotion of happiness by cultural consumption.
