According to foreign studies, performance of pro athletes is largely effected by their stress conditions. However, related research in my country has still been in the initial stage, especially that in pro football players. The research is going to study the stress conditions of players of football clubs' youth academy in Shanghai by using questionnaires which include Mental Stress Scale for Youth Football Players,Stress Appraisal Methods Scale for Youth Football Players(on the pitch)and Coping Scale for Youth Football Players. The main purpose of the research is to study the difference of their stress level, appraisal methods and coping methods among players from different age group and players having different career length, the correlations between each two stress indexes of youth players and the construction of the stress coping model.During the research, documentation, interviewing, questionnaire, mathematical statistics and logistic analysis are used to reach those goals.Specifically, the analyzing process including Analysis of Variance,Multiple Comparisons,Correlation Analysis and Multiple Linear Regression are realized by AMOS 23.0 and SPSS 23.0.The results are as follows:(1)The three self-made scales applied in this study are of high reliability and decent validity so that they can be used to assess players' stress conditions.(2)There are differences among different age groups in stressors including environmental stress and daily-life stress and the tendency to escape when facing pressure;there are significant differences among players having different career length in injury stress and tendency to get out of current dilemma when facing pressure;there are differences among players having different career length in tendency to treat current situation as a challenge when facing pressure on the pitch.(3)Players who have higher stress levels are more likely to treat problems as threats on the pitch trying to escape from current situation,in which Inner pressure and popularity among acquaintances are mains stressors;players who hold a strong desire to win are very sensitive to coach's blame so that they are likely to treat problems as threats and try to escape from current situation while players who suffered greatly from inner pressure are more likely defeated by opponents who try to violate or provoke them.According to the results:(1)Youth players are different from first team players.Specifically, due to lack of life experience and training experience, youth players haven't built their own stress evaluating model. As a result, giving themproper instructions will make them inclined to treat problems as challenge instead of threat in their future career, which will benefit them and the team a lot.(2)Players aged from 16 to 17 are mostly bothered by their surroundings and players having been trained for a long period suffer greater from injuries, which should be taken seriously by the coach and relevant staff.(3)For players who always hold a strong desire to win, coach should be more patient in training and during the game to avoid letting those youth players bothered by the reproach treat problems as threats and try to flee away;During the daily training, coach and relevant staff should pay much attention to players suffered from inner pressure and give them some instructions to relieve their pressure, which will help a lot when those players get provoked or violated by opponents. In future studies, following are things waiting to be considered, which will probably further the result of this research:(1)A larger sample should make the result more persuasive.(2)How to give players suitable instructions and the effect of different kind of psychological interventions.(3)Other psychological factors which can influence the coping model of youth players.
