Since China's reform and opening up,on average, about 700,000 prisoners leave prisons every year and return to society, and the number is increasing at the rate of200,000 annually. After a large group of prisoners returned to society, because their emotions, psychology and survival ability have not fully coincided with the society,it will have a certain negative impact on social security and stability, and have negative consequences on social order, thus constituting a new challenge to the achievement of social governance.Returning to society after serving their sentences, prisoners are facing the great test of survival and development. The elderly prisoners do not have any advantages in terms of emotions, age, physical condition, economic conditions, political status, social opportunities and so on.They are totally at a disadvantage. In the process of building the national legal system, the group of elderly prisoners is becoming larger and larger, and the difficulties they are facing are becoming more and more complex. Therefore,in order to further study the emotional support of elderly prisoners, social workers take the elderly prisoners released after J prison as the research object, and analyze the emotional support of elderly prisoners by collating literature, field research,in-depth interviews and questionnaires.Thirty prisoners aged 60 or over in J prison were selected as the subjects to understand their living conditions and emotional support. It is concluded that emotional support problems such as inadequate communication skills, inferiority and pessimism are common among elderly prisoners. These problems can easily lead to depression, anxiety and even suicide of elderly prisoners, which will have a significant impact on their physical and mental health. This paper chooses L Mou as a case service object. From the perspective of social work, through case intervention,we design service activities around five dimensions of emotional support, namely, concern, understanding, encouragement, respect and trust,to help the service object solve problems, improve the ability of self-solving problems, and stimulate hope and confidence in life.In the specific practical process, the author takes observation method and interview method as the main method, uses the concept and technology of case work to intervene in L Mou's emotional world, and tries to help L Mou get emotional support and achieve emotional re-acquisition and activation through the practical activities of L Mou andhis family. The author believes that the case work method for the elderly prisoners can effectively achieve the service objectives and help the clients to solve certain emotional problems. However, whether the clients can integrate into life, live in harmony with their families and be accepted by the society after the case is over still needs the joint efforts of many forces, and the emotional support of the elderly prisoners needs the widespread attention of the society.
