A Study On Children's Playmate Selection Behavior In Montessori Mixed-age Class

This study used qualitative research methods,and used field observation and interview methods to collect data,and through the analysis of the data,summarized the characteristics and influencing factors of children's playmate selection behavior in Montessori mixed class,and proposed for kindergartens,teachers and parents education advice.The study found that the play selection behavior of children in Q class showed the following characteristics:children in Q class were more inclined to choose children of the same age and same sex as playmates;the frequency of playmate selection behavior of Q class children was high in transition activities and Montessori operations;the Q class children were more inclined to accept the choice of playmates;among the four activity types,the playmates of the Q class were mainly children of the same age;Q class children's peers were accepted more often than other age partners,it was more likely that young children were rejected when they choosed older children as playmates;the initiative of 4-5 years old children playmate selection was higher than 3-4 years old children.The influencing factors of the choice behavior of children's playmates in Q class are as follows:1.the influencing factors for children to choose the same age playmates are:the same age children have more common preferences,the cognitive development level of children of the same age is close,the level of physical development of children of the same age is close and the common activities of children of the same age are mostly the reasons for the children themselves;the concept of age in the subconscious,rehearsing New Year's Day programs at the same age,organizing Montessori activities for children of the same age,the improper intervention of the children of different ages,and the insufficient guidance for children of different ages,this are the reasons for teachers;the disapproval of mixed-age education and the familiarity of parents of the same age are the reasons for parents.2.there are two main factors influencing children's choice of same-sex playmates:gender preference among young children;teacher's guidance on gender awareness.3.the influence factors of the number of children's playmate selection behaviors in Montessori operation are as follows:the nature of the children's own love of play;the teacher relaxes the execution of the rules in the Montessori operation;kindergarten Montessori activity takes a long time.4.the factors affecting the number of rejections of 3-4 years old children are mainly as follows:the development and initiation level of young children are low;parents do not agree with the education of mixed age.5.the influencing factors of 4-5 years old children's initiative are mainly as follows:4-5 years old children have higher level of development in all aspects;teachers cultivate the sense of responsibility of older children.Finally,we propose educational advice for kindergartens,teachers and parents.The recommendations for kindergartens are:increase the amount of game activities in an appropriate amount,promote the localization of the Montessori model;arrange the venues appropriately;introduce the value of mixed-age education to parents through various channels.Suggestions for teachers are:fully understanding the value of mixed-age education,changing the concept of potential age-related;optimizing the organization and implementation of activities,promoting interaction between children of different ages;creating time and space for free activities,increasing interaction between children of different ages;fostering prosocial behavior of young children in a variety of ways.The advice to parents is:fully understand the value of mixed-age education,change the concept of disapproval,and actively interact with parents of children of different ages.
